What Makes a Good Solana Trading Bot

The criteria that matter when choosing a Solana trading bot, and the questions to ask before you fund one.

A good Solana trading bot does three things well: it executes fast and reliably, it makes its costs and controls transparent, and it protects the funds you connect. A risky bot hides its fees, gives you no control over priority or slippage, and is vague about where your keys live. The features are secondary to those fundamentals.

What a Solana trading bot is

A Solana trading bot is software that submits swap transactions to Solana on your behalf, usually through a Telegram chat or a mobile app, so you can buy and sell tokens without manually building transactions or juggling a DEX interface. Most also bundle discovery, wallet tracking and alerts. Cheetah is one example: a multichain memecoin trading platform that runs as a Telegram bot and an iOS/Android app.

Execution: the part that decides your fills

On Solana, whether your transaction lands in a timely block often depends on the priority fee you attach during congestion. A bot that lets you configure priority fee and slippage gives you a real lever on fill quality; one that fixes them makes that decision for you.

What good execution looks like

Fee transparency

Read the fee model before you fund anything. The honest structure states a platform fee plainly and keeps Solana network fees, priority fees and slippage separate, because those vary with network conditions. Cheetah charges 0.5% per trade (0.4% referred) with a $0.95 USD minimum, plus those separate network-dependent costs. Be wary of bots that bury their cut inside a wide quoted spread, see fees explained for how to reason about the full cost stack.

Wallet security and custody

A trading bot needs signing access to trade, so custody is the highest-stakes question. Understand exactly how keys are handled and whether you can leave with your funds.

For Cheetah’s approach specifically, see the security page.

Discovery, alerts and copy trading

Beyond execution, the useful bots help you find and follow activity. Look for a token screener, wallet tracking, opt-in smart-money alerts, and copy trading. Cheetah’s copy trading mirrors a wallet’s buys, and its sells if you enable them, using a fixed amount per trade and a limited number of slots you control. Risk tooling

The features that protect capital: pre-trade rug/liquidity checks (Cheetah’s Exit Guard), stop-loss and take-profit, limit orders, DCA, and a demo/paper-trading mode to practice without real funds. None of these remove risk, but a bot without any of them leaves you exposed.

Questions to ask before you fund a bot

Risks & limitations

Automation removes friction, not risk. A bot will happily and quickly execute a bad trade. Priority fees improve the odds of landing a transaction but do not guarantee it or its price. Rug checks miss some scams, and copy trading inherits every mistake of the wallet you follow. Fees and features also change, verify current terms before relying on any figure here.
